These video's were chosen as a portrayal of the way media can influence the female audience. Although it may attract the male audience as well, the female image is depicted as thin, beautiful and sexual. Although many will argue that majority of the population do not appear this way, the middle school student may take this message and apply it to their own lives.
The thing about these ads are how they draw in both women and men. Watching these ads I admit that I am intrigued to go buy a Victoria Secret brassiere but then I think about why!? The sex appeal in these ads make the thought of purchasing from Victoria Secret more appealing to you as a woman because the way men are googling over the skinny, beautiful, D cup women. It is so frustrating to admit this because I know I have been drawn in by the intended sex appeal of this ad. In my opinion, society has changed our perception of sexual content so much that these ads are actually working on consumers.
Like Kalee said these commercials can draw both women and men in. Woman who see this may want the under graments because they think they will look like the models in the commercials. Men who see this may want their women to look like the models and then want to buy or convince their women to buy the product. For middle school girls they may want to have the product to look like the models. Parents may not want to spend the money on Victoria Secret for growing middle school girls. Therefore this may cause middle school girls to act out against their parents, and may cause problems in the house hold.
I think it is commercials like these Victoria Secret ones that really impact teens self-image. The problem with provocative commercials such as this one is that teen girls have a distorted reality of perfect. Society has made it so that the standard is way above average and in some sense what is realistic.
