TV Commercials

This Herbal Essence commercial may seem innocent but it is commercials like these that have a hidden message behind them. This is one type of commercial that young adults label as being “sexy.”

This commercial is advertising is Bailey’s and the intended audience may not necessarily be middle school students but because these types of commercials are so available to young adults they are being influenced by alcohol at a much younger age. If these ads were not so accessible to middle school students the effects would not be as influential.

  1. It's amazing how seductive advertisements can be when they are about shampoo!!

  2. Although I think that these commercials are smart when sending the message about the product, the content can be seen by anyone. So middle school students watching the Herbal Essences commercial because they happen to be watching their favorite after school show, will still be influenced to want the shampoo because it is a novelty. The way they rip their clothes portrays sexual content but really it is all about the shampoo! But will middle school students see her washing her hair? Or the man trying to burst in the door...

  3. WOW! Both of these commercials really do have a hidden message. Originally, I think both commericals intended to just sell their product and did not realize the hidden message. I think that some/all young adolescents are vulnerable at this age and when seeing a commercial that can potential up their self-esteem and popularity they will be more intrigued to try/use the product in the commercial.
